Boarding
Please come to the boarding gate at least 15 minutes prior to boarding.
Skymark Airlines has been conducting separate boarding in order to ease congestion in the cabin and shorten the time taken for boarding.
At the boarding gate, Skymark Airlines staff board passengers into the cabin, starting with passengers seated at the rear of the plane. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
- Currently, airports have been put on alert following the series of terrorist attacks on 9-11 in the U.S. Since security checks have been tightened, it may take more time to board the plane. Please come to the airport with sufficient time.
Inside the cabin
Cabin environment
Aircrafts fly at an altitude of 9,000 to 12,000 meters (30,000 to 40,000 feet) through the stratosphere at close to the speed of sound, or 900 km per hour. At high altitude, the air pressure is considerably lower than at ground level. Therefore, the aircraft cabin is pressurized during the flight. Even taking this into account, the pressure is equal to that of up in mountains, 2,000 to 2,500 meters above sea level (about 2/3 up Mt. Fuji).
- The cabin air pressure whilst cruising decreases to between 70% to 80% compared to that of ground level and drastically changes 15 to 30 minutes prior to landing. This sudden change in air pressure may cause aerotitis or intestinal pains.
- Decrease in the level of oxygen may have an adverse effect on passengers with breathing problem, cardiac problem, cerebrovascular problem, serious anemia, etc. Also lack of oxygen may adversely affect women in the later stages of pregnancy and newborn babies.
- Temperature
- The air temperature in passenger cabins is kept constant at about 24 ℃.
- Humidity
-
- Cabin humidity drops to 20% - 0%.
- Vibration
- Vibrations occur when an aircraft travels through unstable air currents, at times leading to severe shaking.
- Passengers with varicose veins in thier legs, or who have recently had an operation , may experience blood clots in their inner legs due to the buildup of blood.
・We recommend wearing loose clothing on flights.
・We recommend bringing your own personal medication on board with you.
・Please avoid eating or drinking excesively, especially carbonated or alcoholic beverages.
・Placing carry-on baggage at your feet may impede your movement.
- For passengers seated by the emergency exit
Passengers seated by an emergency exit may be asked to assist the cabin crew in the case of an emergency evacuation.
For a safe flight
We appreciate the cooperation of every passenger in following the instructions of the cabin crew, in-flight announcements, and in-flight signs (seat belt, non-smoking).
- Stowing carry-on baggage
In order to ensure passengers' safety and comfort, carry-on baggage should be placed under the seat in front of yours or stowed in the overhead storage bins.
- Prohibition of knives on aircrafts
In the interest of passenger safety, knives of any kind are prohibited from being brought on aircrafts. Knives should be included in your checked baggage. We appreciate your cooperation for security checks.
- Fastening seatbelts when seated
Please refrain from using the restroom while the seat belt sign has been turned on. The aircraft may suddenly shake violently while in-flight due to turbulence, we advise passengers to keep your seat belts fastened whenever you are seated.
- No smoking policy
Smoking is prohibited at all times. Smoking in aisles, restrooms, and other spaces is also prohibited. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
- Restricted electric (electronic) devices on aircrafts

- The use of electric (electronic) devices on aircrafts is restricted while aircrafts are grounded as well as when in the air.
- 2.
- The use of mobile phones on flights are prohibited. Those articles must be switched off after the passenger entry doors are closed, please switch them off immediately and do not switch them on until the passenger entry doors are open.
